The Barrow County School System, in partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Winder have an afterschool program called "Making Minutes Count for Success." This is an afterschool program that provides opportunities to improve academic achievement, offer enrichment opportunities designed to reinforce and complement the regular school curriculum, and to provide opportunities for families to be actively engaged in their child’s education. The program runs Monday through Friday at the Boys and Girls Club of Winder.

The Boys and Girls Club Making Minutes Count for Success program aims to help students in the areas of testing (MAP, TRC, DIEBELS, and Milestones), report card performance, and behavior. The program includes academic instruction in reading, math and science with certified teachers, and specials instruction in areas such as Funtology (Cosmetology), guitar lessons, gardening, cooking, and drama/acting.

Students who attend County Line Elementary, Holsenbeck Elementary, Kennedy Elementary, Statham Elementary and Winder Elementary schools are eligible to participate. For more information about the Boys and Girls Club of Winder, visit
