Great job to all the students and coaches who participated in the 2026 Barrow County School System Helen Ruffin Picture Book Reading Bowl on October 23, 2025, at Winder Elementary. Austin Road Elementary, Bethlehem Elementary, Bramlett Elementary, County Line Elementary, Holsenbeck Elementary, and Winder Elementary participated in the event.
The competition consisted of five rounds of 12 questions about the content of 20 Georgia Book Award Nominees for K-3rd grade school students. Points were tallied from each round. The following teams were recognized for their achievements at the district level:
First Place: Austin Road Elementary
2nd Place: Holsenbeck Elementary
3rd Place: Bethlehem Elementary
Austin Road and Holsenbeck Elementary move on to represent Barrow County at the East Regional competition at Middle Georgia State University on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
