AHS Superior Ensembles

Apalachee Band Performance

Apalachee Bands Earn Superior Ratings

On March 1, two of the three bands from Apalachee travelled to East Jackson Comprehensive High School to perform at Large Group Performance Evaluation. The bands prepare three selections to perform for a panel of three judges for evaluation and critique. Following the stage performance, the bands read a piece at sight. The ensemble has six minutes to study the piece without the opportunity to play a note of the music.

Both the Apalachee Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band earned the rating of superior from all three performance judges and the sight-reading judge. In addition, the students earned A's in all captions from all the judges. The Wind Ensemble performed level VI, the most difficult level of music to perform and the Symphonic Band performed a IV/V split, which is quite an achievement for an ensemble comprised of mostly 10th and 11th grade students.

We are proud of their achievements and the outstanding way in which they supported the other bands throughout the event.
