Eoc Exam Schedule

On September 10, State School Superintendent Richard Woods and the State Board of Education jointly adopted a resolution identifying the Georgia Milestones End-of-Course (EOC) that will be eliminated: Geometry/Analytic Geometry, Ninth Grade Literature and Composition, Physical Science, and Economics.

High school students will continue to take Georgia Milestones EOCs in Algebra I/ Coordinate Algebra, American Literature and Composition, Biology, and U.S. History.

BCSS Testing Schedule

In planning ahead for testing in December, Barrow County School System has adopted the following testing schedule. EOC assessments must be completed in person at school. Therefore, our high schools will implement the following plans to accommodate both in-person and distance learners. Please note these important dates below.

*These schools have additional space in the buildings that can accommodate distance learners to test on the same days with adequate physical distancing.

Georgia Milestones assessments attempt to measure the degree that students have learned and mastered standards in tested subject areas. Milestones are taken towards the end of the course and assess the full span of the course standards. Students are ranked in four different categories: beginning (1), developing (2), proficient (3), or distinguished (4). Students who have fully mastered the standards achieve at the proficient level and distinguished indicates moving beyond that level.

In past years, EOCs have counted for 20% of a student’s course grade. In a split vote on October 1, the State Board of Education voted to reject State School Superintendent Richard Woods' recommendation that the EOC 20% course grade weight be lowered to 0.01% for the 2020-2021 school year. The State Board has proposed a 10% course weight for the 2020-2021 school year. Please click here to provide your feedback on the EOC course grade weight for 2020-2021.
