Thank you to District Partner in Education Akins Ford for their generous support of our top teachers!
Brad Akins, Mikey Morsovillo, and Allison Best hand-delivered checks to our three 2025-26 District Teacher of the Year (TOTY) Finalists and the District TOTY. They awarded a $5,000 check to Caroline Bucky-Beaver from Barrow Arts and Sciences Academy, and each of the three district finalists—Ashley Gibson from Russell Middle, Melissa Johnston from Holsenbeck Elementary, and Brooke Houlihan from Apalachee High School—with $1,000 checks.
In recent years, Akins Ford added this surprise teacher recognition after Chris Akins served as a business representative on the TOTY selection committee. Both BCSS graduates, Chris and Brad Akins say they are deeply grateful for the dedication and hard work of the BCSS educators in our classrooms today.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Akins Ford for their commitment to our community and support of our schools through these generous recognitions.
