Dr. Cindy Murphy


Cindy Murphy grew up in Conyers, GA and graduated from Heritage High School. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Education in Community Agency Counseling at Auburn University. She moved to Washington, DC in 1995 and worked for the City of Alexandria in the Office for Women’s Initiatives and other mental health agencies. She returned to Auburn University and received her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision with a focus on School Counseling in 2003. Since that time, she has worked as a school counselor in elementary, middle, and high schools in Georgia.
Cindy has been married for 25 years to Sean and has one son, Connor (15), who attends North Oconee High School.
She and her family have lived in Oconee County since 2009. She has worked in the Oconee County School System since 2008 as a school counselor, most recently at Oconee County Elementary School. She is a part time lecturer at UGA in the School Counseling Program and active on the leadership team of the Georgia School Counselor Association. Dr. Murphy is excited to begin this chapter of her professional career as the School Counselor for the Innovation Campus (BASA and Sims).
