Congratulations to Samantha Chang, a Special Education Science Teacher at Winder-Barrow High School, for being recognized as Barrow County School System's Super Star Teacher for October 2025.
WBHS Principal Rebbie Lichliter said Ms. Chang enhances the school culture by modeling collaboration, professionalism, and positivity in every aspect of her work. She wrote in her nomination:
"Ms. Chang has had a profound impact on student learning by making Biology accessible, engaging, and meaningful for all learners. As a skilled co-teacher, she works side-by-side with general education teachers to adapt lessons, provide scaffolds, and create opportunities for success for students with disabilities. Her use of interactive labs, visual supports, and real-world connections fosters curiosity and helps students see the relevance of science in their daily lives. Students who once struggled with confidence in science now participate actively and demonstrate measurable growth, as reflected in our improved CCRPI results in Special Education Biology, now at a green star. She encourages students by celebrating small successes, modeling a growth mindset, and reinforcing PBIS expectations, which builds both academic skills and self-confidence. Her passion for teaching inspires students to take risks, stay engaged, and develop a lasting love of learning."
