2026-2027 Student Transfer Requests

Georgia State Law, often referred to as HB 251, gives parents of public school students the option to request a transfer for their child to another school within their district where space is available and parents provide transportation. The law allows us to determine available space within our permanent buildings and classrooms, but does not require us to create additional classrooms beyond our budgetary limitations.
For the 2026-27 school year, Barrow County School System had limited space at all schools in grades 1-12.
Transfer request forms were available online and at the Board of Education office from Nov. 3 through Nov. 21. The parent/guardian who enrolled the student must be the one who completes the form. The deadline for all requests for the 2026-27 school year was 11:59 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21, 2025.
