2026 GaDOE Scholar Honoree

Congratulations to Winder‑Barrow High School senior Josie McElhannon for being recognized as one of only 162 graduating seniors in the state of Georgia to earn this honor. Josie is the only student from Barrow County School System to receive this recognition for the Class of 2026.
Through the Georgia Scholar Program, the Georgia Department of Education identifies and honors high school seniors who have demonstrated excellence in both academics and community involvement. Each Georgia Scholar receives a diploma seal and a graduation cord in recognition of their achievement.
“Congratulations to the 162 students recognized as Georgia Scholars this year,” said State School Superintendent Richard Woods. “These students exemplify excellence in academics, leadership, and service. I’m proud to celebrate their achievements and confident they will continue making a positive difference in their communities and beyond.”
