Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Achievements!

There is a lot of exciting news for our Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) students and staff here in Barrow County.
Students from the Barrow Arts & Sciences Academy (BASA) FCCLA chapter wrapped up an outstanding year filled with competitive success, leadership recognition, and statewide and national honors. During state‑level competition,
Zoey Bush from Winder‑Barrow High School was awarded one of only 14 national Kikkoman/FCCLA Scholarships through Youth For Understanding USA. This scholarship will allow her to participate in a six‑week foreign exchange program in Japan this summer. The BASA FCCLA chapter was also recognized as an Honor Roll chapter, reflecting its continued excellence and commitment to FCCLA standards.
The chapter concluded the year with strong representation at every level of FCCLA leadership. Emma Pitman serves as National Vice President of Community Service, Graham Mull is the Georgia Vice President of Community Service, and Ansleigh Daniels represents the state as Georgia Region 3 Vice President of Communications. Graham Mull also earned the distinction of being named Georgia FCCLA National Officer Candidate, further showcasing the strength of leadership within the program.
In recognition of the guidance behind these accomplishments, the BASA FCCLA adviser, Abby Peterson, received the Georgia FCCLA Spirit of Advising Award, honoring advisers who consistently support student success through dedication and service.
Apalachee High School (AHS) FCCLA students earned four top‑10 finishes.
- Vendy Slamkova placed ninth in Job Interview
- Sasha Contreras earned third place in Public Policy Advocacy
- Caitlyn Lynch finished fourth in Say Yes to FCS
- Chase Shamburger placed second in Fashion Construction
These students will advance to the FCCLA National Leadership Conference this July to compete at the national level.
Together, these achievements highlight an exceptional year for Barrow County FCCLA students and their continued impact at the local, state, and national levels. Join us in congratulating these individuals on their accomplishments.
