Salary Study Update: Increases for Staff

The Barrow County School System (BCSS) Board of Education continues to show its gratitude and commitment to staff with its recent vote to increase teacher compensation.
Thank you to our Board for approving the changes to the teacher salary schedule during the April 28 Work Session. These changes come after the Board approved a Compensation and Classification Study to help make BCSS more competitive with surrounding districts and industries to attract and retain high-quality candidates. This decision is essential to help top educators and support staff choose to work with BCSS and stay with BCSS to ensure sustained student success.
Board Chair Lisa Maloof shared, “On behalf of the Board of Education, we are committed to investing in our staff. We want our staff to know that the role they play in the lives of children is critically important to the strength of our community. One of our core beliefs is that staff should receive competitive salaries and benefits. This vote affirms that belief.”
The changes to salary will take effect in either July 2026 or August 2026, depending on calendar days worked.
