COVID-19 Cases
Updated 3/8/2022
Barrow County School System is monitoring COVID-19 cases in our schools. We will report the number of positive cases concerning students and staff each week. Close contacts to positive cases will be notified and instructed on how to proceed with quarantine. Those numbers will not be shared here due to the numerous factors that can now determine who quarantines.
The CDC and DPH issued new isolation and quarantine guidelines on December 28, which BCSS will follow.
We will continue to follow the COVID-19 Protocols adopted on November 10. If a school’s status changes, we will immediately alert impacted families.
Case Data Updated May 3, 2022
*Numbers refer to new positive cases of COVID-19 for students and staff, based on the data received from schools at the time of compiling the weekly report. Any additional cases received after our internal deadline will be reported in the following week's data. Following federal law, no information will be shared that would identify individuals.
Voluntary COVID-19 Testing
The Barrow County School System is starting a voluntary, weekly COVID-19 testing program to help keep our students, staff, and community safe and to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Submit Vaccination Card
If a close contact has been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 (two doses of Pfizer vaccine, plus two weeks after dose 2), then they will not have to quarantine. To expedite the contact tracing process, students or parents may submit a copy of the COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card that will be added to their student record.
Need information on where to get vaccinated? We have some local locations.
BCSS policies and procedures are intended to mitigate not eliminate risk. No single action or set of actions will completely eliminate risk of COVID-19 transmission, but implementation of several coordinated interventions can greatly reduce that risk.
