Update: Graduation Ceremonies

Update: Graduation Ceremonies

During the course of this pandemic, our schools and district have faced many impossible situations that require difficult decisions to be made, and we are still facing many more. One of the toughest is the decision today to cancel the in-person Graduation Ceremony for the Class of 2020.

For the safety of our staff, graduates and their families, we will not host an in-person graduation ceremony for either of our high schools. The number of COVID-19 cases in Barrow County and overall in Georgia is now much higher than it was in May when we originally delayed our graduation ceremonies. In addition, Governor Kemp has extended his Executive Order which prohibits gatherings of 50 people or more.

We are thankful that we were able to recognize our graduates in May with our virtual Graduation Celebrations that included student speeches and the personal delivery of diplomas to each graduate. We also appreciate the efforts of our teachers and staff to make that experience as unique and memorable as possible. We will never forget the Class of 2020.
