Cultural Connections Performance Series

The Barrow Arts and Sciences Academy (BASA) presents the second annual Cultural Connections, a performing arts series held at the Innovation Amphitheater in partnership with the Georgia Council for the Arts. This series brings several professional artists to our community, and provides affordable and entertaining evenings of music, dance, poetry and more for all to enjoy. In addition, BASA's own student artists will present audience members with a special opening performance before the headline artists for each show take the stage.

  • Mobile Tickets Only: $5 each for students; $10 each for non-students
  • All shows approximately 90 minutes
  • Located at Innovation Amphitheater, 1007 Austin Rd, Winder, GA 30680
  • Free parking
  • Gates open at 7 p.m.
  • Rain checks offered if event is cancelled

Ah Surely Cultural Connections EventOctober 21, 2021 at 7:30pm
Irish Music and Dance, Ah Surely

Ah Surely, a traditional Irish Music and Dance Trio from Atlanta, Georgia showcases many distinctively Irish musical instruments such as the uilleann pipes, banjo, guitar, Irish wooden flute, tin whistle, and bodhran, as well as Irish step dance and songs in both English and Irish Gaelic. As a special bonus, an opening dance act performed by students of the BASA Dance program will warm up the stage for the Ah Surely Trio.

 

 

Spring Quartet Cultural Connections EventMarch 31, 2022 at 7:30pm
All Strings Attached, Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra String Quintet

A sample of Metro Atlanta’s only fully-professional part-time symphonic orchestra will come to Barrow to share the beauty of all the stringed voices of the orchestra. Under the direction of the JCSO maestro, the individual beauty and nature of each stringed voice will be spotlighted before the quintet plays together in concert for the audience.

 

 

Marquice L. Williams Spoken Poetry Cultural Connections EventApril 14, 2022 at 7:30pm
Poetry in Motion, Spitfire Poetry Group

Enjoy spoken word poetry, lyrical music, and interpretive dance featuring Marquice L. Williams and MiKeshia McPhaul of Savannah Georgia's Spitfire Poetry Group. These headlining artists will share the stage with Barrow’s own talented student lyricists and dancers in an evening of poetic storytelling enhanced with music and movement.

 

 

 

Full Radius Cultural Connections EventApril 21, 2022 at 7:30pm
Undercurrents, Full Radius Dance

Experience the power, passion, and innovation of Full Radius Dance. Through their artistry, they redefine the boundaries of dance by bringing together dancers with and without disabilities in a performance on the Innovation Amphitheater stage. Opening dance acts will be performed by students of the Barrow Arts & Sciences Academy Dance Program.
