The Barrow Arts and Sciences Academy (BASA) presents the second annual Cultural Connections, a performing arts series held at the Innovation Amphitheater in partnership with the Georgia Council for the Arts. This series of entertaining and enriching performances is open to everyone. BASA's own student artists will offer the audience a brief opening performance before the headliner takes the stage.

Ah Surely, Irish Music and Dance
The Ah Surely Irish music and dance trio showcases the culture of Ireland in a energetic and interactive concert. Enjoy the sounds of traditional Irish instruments,“hard shoe” step dancing, and songs in both English and Irish Gaelic! Ah Surely is a trio performers and teaching artists: John Maschinot (uilleann pipes, flute, penny whistle), Evan Kinney (guitar, vocals, fiddle), and Olivia Bradley (Irish Step dance, Bodhran). They have performed at schools, festivals, and concerts throughout the Southeast. Watch a sample performance

Marquice L. Williams, Spoken Word Poetry
Known for his spoken word poetry and dedication to creating safe spaces where any individual can tell their truth, Marquice L. Williams will share the stage with a few of Barrow’s fearless student writers in an evening of original music and spoken word poetry. Spellbinding vocal performances will be lifted high as the sun sets over the lake at the Innovation Amphitheater. Download the event flyer.

Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra, String Quintet
A sample of Metro Atlanta’s only fully-professional part-time symphonic orchestra will come to Barrow to share the beauty of all the stringed voices of the orchestra. Under the direction of the JCSO maestro, the individual beauty and nature of each stringed voice will be spotlighted before the quintet plays together in concert for the audience.
