AUGUST 12 UPDATE 12PM: All remaining Chromebooks and internet hotspots have now been reserved. We will be offering a waitlist for any family who did not receive one. Thank you.

AUGUST 12 UPDATE 11AM: We still have more than 500 Chromebooks and 1,000 internet hotspots to give to our students for at-home use. Stop by our Central Office at 179 W. Athens St. today, Friday, Aug. 12 between 11:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. to pick up a device for FREE. Devices will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please bring your child's 5-digit student ID number (their lunch number) and a photo ID. Children do not need to be present.

The information below was shared with families through email and Remind on July 25, 2022.

The Emergency Connectivity Fund awarded BCSS a grant to provide students with Chromebooks for at-home use AND internet access with WIFI Hotspots. Last school year, BCSS distributed 2,474 Chromebooks and 612 AT&T hotspots.

As of July 25, 2022, we still have:

  • 1,331 Chromebooks remaining.
  • 103 AT&T (unlimited bandwidth) hotspots available and 3,102 T-Mobile (limited bandwidth of 100-gig per year) hotspots remaining.

There is no cost to students or their families. Your child(ren) will be able to keep the device at home, including over the summer, until they graduate or transfer to another school district. Hotspots will remain functional while federal funding is available.

[THE SURVEY IS NOW CLOSED. Please email katherine.wright@barrow.k12.ga.us to be added to a waitlist.]

Families that request a device(s) through the link above can pick them up at the BCSS Professional Development Center on August 10, 11, or 12 from 11:30 am until 5 pm.

All devices will remain the property of BCSS, and each item will be checked out to individual students for use at home. By filling out this form, your child is not guaranteed to receive a device or service. This program is not related to digital or remote learning programs.
