Makenzie Pilgrim is an Apalachee student who is doing absolutely phenomenal work this school year. She is currently excelling in her Early Childhood Education courses at Lanier Tech and is well on her way to completing her high school diploma. She has big plans for her future and is bound for success after she graduates.
Makenzie started her high school career at Apalachee but transferred to another district after her freshman year. She ran into some roadblocks with school after she left Apalachee and found herself a little off track for graduation. This year, she returned to Apalachee and is making great strides in her coursework.
After some conversations with Andy Dean, the graduation specialist for Apalachee, and Mike Kulp, the Accelerated Career Diploma coordinator for BCSS, Makenzie opted to pursue an Accelerated Career Diploma. She had some interest in pursuing a healthcare program at Lanier Tech but ultimately decided to study early childhood education. Since starting her courses at Lanier Tech, she has earned high marks in her courses and is set to earn her diploma this year.
Makenzie has also started working recently and is doing a great job balancing her work and her studies. When she graduates, she may pursue a career in education. However, she may opt to start pursuing a healthcare degree. She has hopes to potentially become a radiology nurse.
Mr. Dean says that “Makenzie is a driven and focused student who will be very successful at whatever she chooses to do. Her work ethic and determination are very impressive, and I have enjoyed having the opportunity to work with her this school year.
Makenzie has overcome some big obstacles and has done so with grace and poise. She is a remarkable student who is doing great things. Apalachee is so proud of the work she has done to get on track to earn her high school diploma.
