5 BCSS Schools Recognized as Literacy and Math Leaders

The Georgia Department of Education has recognized five Barrow County School System schools for exceptional growth in literacy and/or mathematics during the 2024-2025 school year. These honors highlight the district’s commitment to providing high-quality instruction and ensuring all students develop strong foundational skills for future success.


Math Leaders

Bethlehem Elementary School, Russell Middle School, and Winder Elementary School were named Math Leader schools for demonstrating significant growth in mathematics. Haymon-Morris Middle School earned distinction as a Math Leader school for achieving both high performance and growth.

Literacy Leaders

In literacy, Haymon-Morris Middle School and Holsenbeck Elementary School were recognized as Literacy Leader schools for their notable growth in reading achievement.


These recognitions are based on student progress on Georgia Milestones assessments and underscore the importance of grade-level reading and numeracy skills, which open doors for future academic and career opportunities.
