The AHS BBQ Club hosted an official Steak Cookoff Association competition.
Autumn Johnson competed in Ribs and placed 15th our of 19. She cooked, prepped, and turned in the box without any help and beat four professional chefs that compete for a living.
Zavier Wyche competed in Steak with a quick training session from professional pitmaster and creator of Bama Grill Masters Rubs, Mike McGlynn. Zavier placed 17th out of 34, in the top 50%!
The parking lot was full of big-hitting chefs from all over the South competing for points, cash, and a Golden Ticket to the World Series of Steak in Fort Worth, TX. Competing in our parking lot, there were over 3 World Series Champions and several cooks who had previously earned perfect scores.
Akins Ford also sponsored Autumn Johnson and Noah Walker to take the certification class that we hosted to become SCA Officially Certified Judges! They may now judge SCA cookoffs internationally.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way and for all the help to make the event a success! The BBQ Club raised around $2,000 from the event.
