Standout Senior: Hannah Hollingsworth

Standout Senior, Hannah Hollingsworth

As the emergency doors swung open at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, there was Hannah Hollingsworth ready to help. The Apalachee High School Senior began working hands-on at the hospital in August of 2023.

She would learn how to do EKGs and help run blood work on the patients. While working diligently in her internship, she also managed to play two sports, work another part-time job, and manage to become an honor graduate.

“I took the internship because I wanted to expose myself to the medical field,” said Hollingsworth. “I saw so many things, and I was exposed to many different, amazing people who would take their time to teach me about everything medical that they could.”

She plans to attend Georgia State University or Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville to major in Nursing. Hollingsworth plans to become a nurse or potentially an emergency room nurse in the future.

“I learned so much from all the nurses and medical staff. I want to become and nurse and help others,” said Hollingsworth.

Her teachers and coaches have also played an integral role in her academic career.

“Playing sports taught me that no matter what the outcome is, everything is going to be okay. Win or lose, fail, or pass, it always works out how it is supposed to,” said Hollingsworth.

She has played softball and basketball since she was six years old.

Hannah accredits her mother with teaching her to be determined and hard-working.

“I want to thank my mom for teaching me all the life lessons that she taught me, and how to thrive in an unknown environment,” said Hollingsworth.

This May, Hannah will graduate from Apalachee High School as an Honor Graduate.

Congratulations, Hannah! Barrow County School System is proud of your hard work inside and outside the classroom.
