The Apalachee High School Wind Ensemble has been honored with the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) Exemplary Performance Award, one of the highest recognitions in the state for school music programs.
The award is based on the ensemble’s exceptional showing at the Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE), where they received straight superior ratings from all four adjudicators and earned all A’s—a rare and impressive achievement.
“This award is a testament to the dedication and talent of our students,” said Dion Muldrow, Band Director at Apalachee High School. “What makes this award truly special is that it recognizes both the individual and collective efforts of our students. While the Wind Ensemble is the award recipient, this honor reflects the excellence of our entire band program at Apalachee.”
The Wind Ensemble’s success is part of a broader pattern of musical excellence at AHS. This year:
- 10 students were selected for the GMEA District 14 Honor Band
- 2 students earned spots in the GMEA All-State Band
- 35 individuals and ensembles received superior ratings at the Solo and Ensemble Performance Evaluation
The GMEA Exemplary Performance Award will be formally presented to the Wind Ensemble during their Fall Concert, where the community will have the opportunity to celebrate this outstanding accomplishment.
