Liberty New

ELA

Liberty New grew up in Montgomery, Alabama. After high school, she attended Troy (State) University where she received her undergraduate degree in English and Creative Writing (1998). While studying at TSU, she was a member of the Sound of the South Marching Band, the TSU Symphony, and TSU Jazz Band.

Between undergraduate school and graduate school, she had two children, Joseph (now 21) and Sarah Beth (now 19). It was while raising toddlers that she realized she loved teaching her children and wanted to share her love of learning. To accomplish this goal, she studied and received her Master’s in Secondary Education from University of Phoenix (2005).  In 2013, she had an opportunity to take her own education a step further and received an Educational Specialist degree from Lincoln Memorial University in Curriculum and Instruction.

Five years ago, Liberty married Harold New and gained another daughter, Kelsey (now 17). Their family grew by one more during the pandemic to include a four year-old, 80 lbs. Redbone Coon Hound named Ford.

After teaching in two states and four counties, Liberty is excited to begin this new chapter at this brand new school. She is delighted to have the opportunity to continue to grow as an educator at Barrow County’s newest and most innovative school.
