Robotics Summer Camp Success!

Robotics Summer Camp Success!

Last week, around forty students spent their summer days energizing their brains at the Barrow Robotics Program's middle school robotics camp at the Center for Innovative Teaching.  High school robotics team members took the lead guiding the campers through the STEAM processes of researching innovative solutions, engineering effective prototypes, and programming autonomous robotic mechanisms.

By the week's end, the campers presented their potential solutions to several current issues facing the arts, the STEAM theme of the upcoming FLL robotics competition season called MASTERPIECE. On the final day of camp, the students showcased their newly acquired coding skills and spirit of coopertition in a camp-wide robot scrimmage.  Students utilized color sensors, gyrosensors, ultrasonic distance sensors, and motor encoders to have their robots navigate the competition field and complete a variety of challenging missions.

The experience was such a success that during the final day's debrief session, the campers called for a vote for a second week of camp.
