December 15 Vaccination Event

Vaccination Event on Wednesday, December 15 at the Center for Innovative Teaching

With the Omicron variant of COVID-19 spreading throughout the country and the onset of flu season, we are partnering with the Barrow Health Department to offer a vaccination event for our students. By getting vaccinated now, your child can be more prepared to return to school for a healthy spring semester.

The Barrow Health Department will be at the Center for Innovative Teaching (old Russell Middle School next to Winder Library - 84 West Midland Ave in Winder) on Wednesday, December 15 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the CFIT gym. No appointment is necessary.

This walk-up vaccine clinic will offer the following:

  • Flu shots for children and adults,
  • Meningococcal (Menactra) for the teen in your family,
  • Pfizer dose 1, Pfizer dose 2, or a Pfizer booster shot.

Parents need to be present for children who need to be vaccinated. If another adult family member brings your child (such as a grandparent), please provide a written note from the parent/ guardian giving permission for the vaccination with a telephone number. A DPH nurse will call that number for verification and confirmation.

No out-of-pocket expense for anyone. If insured, please bring your card private, PeachCare, or Medicaid. The state of Georgia has a program to help those underinsured or with no insurance so everyone can celebrate the holidays and be jolly and well.

A second vaccination event will be planned on January 6 to provide access to dose 2 of the Pfizer vaccine. We will send out details closer to the event.

Thank you.
