Welcome to the Holsenbeck Elementary Media Center.

Book checkout will begin for all students during the second full week of school. Students may check out books before school on Mondays and Fridays with homeroom teacher permission, and during the school day when there is no class being taught in the media center.

Students in kindergarten and first grade may check out 1 book at a time. Students in grades second through fifth may check out 2 books at a time, unless teachers have requested other arrangements.

Books are due back two weeks from checkout. We ask that students return books as soon as they finish reading them so that others who may be waiting have a chance to check out as well. If a student finishes a book and would like to check out a new book, they must bring a book back to the media center. Students with two books out may check out another book after returning one book as long as there are no books overdue by more than 30 days on their account, or with permission from Mrs. Cicone. In order to renew a book for another two weeks, students must have the book with them.

There are no fines for overdue books, but if a student loses or damages a library book, they may not check out another book until the book in question is returned or paid for. Also, if there are unpaid fines, their report card will be held until all fines are paid.

We are looking forward to an amazing year during which students will listen to stories, do research and hands-on projects, acquire media literacy and technology skills, and learn to work both individually and in teams.
