Student Admission Procedures for Assigning Schools

When a student is assigned to the Horizon Program:

  • Ensure that a waiver or placement letter has been sent to the Horizon Program (via fax or email)
  • Send all relevant documentation pertaining to the student (IEP, 504, ELL, ACCESS, medical records, among others) to the Horizon Program along with the waiver or placement letter
  • Have the registrar assign the student to the ALT section on Infinite Campus (our district-wide record-keeping system)
  • Direct the student's guardians to the school website or have them call the Horizon Program at 770-867-2900

Student Admission Procedures for Parents/Guardians

When a student is assigned to the Horizon Program:

  • Call the Horizon Program at 770-867-2900 to set up an admission's conference as soon as possible.
  • Prior to the admission's conference, please view our Admissions Video above.
  • Both student and guardian are required to attend the admission conference. No student is permitted to begin at the Horizon Program until this meeting is completed.
  • Make sure the student is properly equipped for school according to the Student Handbook, including supplies and uniform.
  • Students will be evaluated for academic progress and graduation readiness, and assigned a schedule that aligns with their academic needs.
  • Students will be given an account on Edmentum, the district's preferred online learning tool that delivers academic content through a variety of multimedia methods.
  • Students will be informed of their academic, behavioral, and social responsibilities while enrolled.
