High school registration has begun and 8th grade students are receiving a lot of information.                   We began by introducing them to “High School Basics,” a lesson presented to all students to address some really important topics such as the difference between middle school and high school, classes in the Freshman year, and graduation requirements.

Academic Recommendations

8th grade content teachers are working with students to recommend them for the appropriate courses for next year.  Teacher recommendations are based on a number of factors including: Work ethic, MAP scores, grades, attendance

8th graders took YouScience, an assessment that measures their aptitudes or strengths in certain areas. YouScience is a tool that can be used to help students choose elective classes that are a good fit for their interests and goals.  Last week, Mrs. Dooley visited science classes to show students how to interpret their results.  Students can access their YouScience results from their student portal in Infinite Campus.  Below are the links to the YouScience lessons:

Additionally, 8th graders have been watching videos in Connection classes that explain some of the courses and career pathways offered next year at WBHS.  Check out the videos created by Winder-Barrow! You can also find information about CTAE Career Pathways on the BCSS district website.
