JROTC Appreciation Day

WBHS JROTC

The Winder-Barrow High School JROTC marked JROTC Appreciation Day on May 5 with an early morning 2-mile run. The City of Winder Mayor signed a proclamation in 2016 designating May 5 as Barrow County School System JROTC Appreciation Day. Each year, our program does something to acknowledge that our community and school system appreciates our cadets and our mission.

This year, our ROTC cadets ran through the neighborhoods adjacent to the school and sang Army cadences. Before the run, the proclamation was read so the cadets would understood how much support our program has in Winder.

Three U.S. Army recruiters, a former student who attends Georgia Gwinnett College in SROTC, a former student who is leaving for USMC basic training Sunday also participated, and WBHS Assistant Principal Ms. Barbara Smith.
