A Big Thank You!

A Big Thank You!

On Monday May 9th, 2022 members of the Glenwood Barrow County High School's Alumni Association Inc. Boards of Directors delivered four children's books to the first-grade classes of Winder Elementary School. The alumni association adopted Winder Elementary School when it opened about five years ago because as a brand-new school it didn't have the extensive resources that older elementary schools had gathered over the years.

The Glenwood Barrow County High School Alumni Association Inc. was formed over a dozen years ago to continue the tradition of the segregated Glenwood Elementary and High School. The schools' historic marker is located in teh Glenwood Pointe, located on the corner of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and New Street, the site of the old Glenwood School. Many engraved bricks are installed there to honor the many teachers, students, parents, and community members of that era. The school closed in 1970 when racially segregated schools were outlawed by the United States government.

Thank you for your generous donation of books to our fabulous first grade students.
