Becky (Rebecca) McGowan

EIP Teacher

Hello. My name is Becky McGowan, a second grade teacher at Yargo Elementary School. I have been teaching at Yargo since 2001 and am a twenty-six year veteran teacher. I have experience teaching Kindergarten through 2nd grade students including EIP, EL, and Special Ed. I graduated from the University of Georgia and proceeded to earn my Master’s and Specialist degrees. Teaching is a powerful thing and rewarding too. I hope to instill a love of learning with my students and look forward to helping them explore their interests through their creativity and curiosity.

Just a few more things about me. My family and I live in Athens, Georgia. That’s right...the home of the Georgia Bulldogs. GO DAWGS! I live there with my husband who is an Alabama fan, and two busy children. My daughter attends BASA and is a former Yargo Patriot and my son goes to Haymon Morris Middle School and recently graduated 5th grade as a Yargo Wildcat. Oh, we have two adorable dogs and one cute guinnea pig too. Our lives stay busy but we like to settle down with a good movie and some buttery, salty popcorn (maybe some Cookie Dough bites) when we catch a break from practices, lessons, and other activities.

I forgot to tell you, I work with my twin sister, Mrs. Crane. It’s pretty cool! Do you think you can tell us apart? Well, enough about me. I can’t wait to hear about you and your family. See you soon.
