Lt. Faye Spaulding: April 2023 BOLD Difference Maker

Every day, members of our community are instrumental to the success and welfare of our students and staff. To show appreciation, Superintendent Dr. Chris McMichael started the Community Member of the Month to recognize these individuals who are making a BOLD difference behind-the-scenes.

We're happy to recognize Lt. Faye Spaulding as the April Community Member of the Month. Lt. Spaulding works with the Barrow County Sheriff's Office and also shares her time and heart with our community through her continuous acts of service and support.

BCSS Social Worker Dr. Jennifer Benford says, "Lt. Spaulding is an icon in our community. She exemplifies, 'It is more than just a job.' She is one of the few individuals who is able to reach people of all levels and make them feel equally as special. Her passion for our students and families is exemplified by her excitement and investment in Shop with a Hero year after year, her presence and contributions to the Back to School Bash every year, her willingness to mentor students, her service in family court, and so much more. She is often referred to as 'Mama Faye' and is revered by nearly all who come in contact with her. She is a member of our current Leadership Barrow team, and also is a integral leader in our community's crisis response team. When Lt. Spaulding arrives, you will likely see students (even teenagers!) approach her expecting hugs, parents smile with greetings, and community partners smiling. In short, she has a positive impact on every corner of the community. I can't imagine working on a community initiative in Barrow without involving Lt. Spaulding!"

BCSO Administrative Coordinator Danielle Austin says, "Lt. Spaulding lives out the golden rule when it comes to the community she works in. She volunteers each year to help with Holiday Connection, she mentors students at Foothills, she spearheads the Shop with a Hero program at the Barrow County Sheriff's Office each year ... the list could literally go on and on. She has a servant heart and an empathetic nature that just wants to make things better."
